I have provided students with opportunities to do surveys and polls previous to taking the TT course at MVCR.
Student interactions tend to be varied in quantity and quality. Surveys on the D2L platform that were asynchronous were generally done by about half of the class unless marks were awarded or on line “locks” to new material were enabled. Similar experience with SurveyMonkey.
For sychronous, “laptop required” courses, the polleverywhere, SurveyMonkey, Turningpoint and D2L platforms were very effective and interesting to use in class.
My experience as a student using these methods was good, and as with all polling, it is great to know instantly that you are not alone in your thoughts on any particular subject being polled.
